Goodnews FM, a Takoradi-based radio station on Friday launched a foundation to support the underprivileged people in society.
The Foundation would source for funds from all well-meaning Ghanaians to assist people who are in dire need of help.
The General Overseer of Christian Faith Church International, Bishop Emmanuel Botwey launched the Foundation at the 10th Anniversary luncheon of Goodnews FM in Takoradi.
Bishop Botwey said supporting people in need is one of the core principles of Christianity and appealed to all and sundry to support such a worthy course.
The theme for the Anniversary Celebration is, “Promoting Peace and Development through Media Excellence”.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goodnews FM, Mr. Kobby Aggrey, said that since the inception of the station, it had promoted businesses through their airwaves and created employment for many people.
Through its corporate social responsibility, he said it had organized leadership seminars to educate the general public on leadership skills to manage their organizations as well as family planning campaigns and sporting activities.
Mr. Aggrey mentioned some of the challenges the station encountered as frequent power outages, high cost of production, management crisis that nearly collapsed the station, among others.
He said that it had taken God’s favour for the station to be still in operation, adding that, it would continue using its airwaves to promote the gospel of Christ to help save lives.
Some of the activities lined-up for the anniversary celebration include, leadership conference, street carnival, float, music concert, clean-up campaigns, symposium, Miss Oil city and sporting activities.
