The Association of Oil Market Companies (AOMCs) at the weekend inducted into office a nine-member new Board of Governors to steer the affairs of OMCs for the next two years.
The members include: Mr Emmanuel Abledu of Agapet Oil, Chairman; Mr Henry Akwaboah, Engen Oil Company; Mr Chris Ackummey, GOIL; Mr Guillaume Larraoque, Total Petroleum Ghana; Mr Omar V. Benson, Shell Ghana Limited; and Mr Anthony Nwachukwu, Oando Ghana Limited.
The rest are Mr Bernard Havor, Dukes Petroleum Company Limited; Mr Seth K. Nanemeh, Anasset Gas Company Limited; and Mr Felix Gyekye, Glory Oil Company Limited.
The new members were inducted at an Executive Revellers rendezvous in Accra, which was also used to induct eight new OMCs who have gone through membership scrutiny.
The new AOMCs members are Bano Oil Company Limited; Benab Oil Company Limited; Glasark Oil Company Limited; Grace Petroleum Company Limited; Pacific Oil Ghana Limited; Petrobay Oil Company Limited; Union Oil Company Limited; and Venus Oil Company Limited.
Mr Yaw Agyemang-Duah, out-going AOMC Board Chairman who inducted the Board tasked the new executives to promote the interests of the association and bodies engaged as marketers of petroleum products.
He reminded the board that AOMCs seeks to provide specific services and functions and coordinate between the Association and all the major stakeholders in the oil industry, the ministries and other government agencies.
Mr Agyemang-Duah a former Managing Director of Ghana Oil Company tasked the members to act with integrity probity, accountability and transparency in pursuit of their business objectives.
“You must all strictly comply with all the laws of the country, anti-trust legislation, none engagement in product dumping and adulteration practices, whilst at the same time adhering to quality standards and responsibility to customers.
“A high degree of social responsibility, high safety, health and environmental standards must be your hallmark at the same time as you apply fair competition without conflict of interest,” Mr Agyemang-Duah noted.
Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Duah, AOMCs Industrial Coordinator charged members to discharge all obligations to the Association including prompt payment of dues, levies and active participation in all activities. He said any member who engages in any practices that brings the Association’s name into disrepute would be sanctioned.
Mr Abledu in his acceptance speech pledged to work in pursuance of OMCs objectives and collaborate with stakeholders including Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Bank of Ghana, and National Petroleum Authority.
Other stakeholders are the Energy Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Tema Oil Refinery, Revenue Agencies Governing Board, Ghana Standard Board, Ghana National Fire Service and Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited.
The AOMCs used the occasion to honour Mr Agyemang-Duah for meritorious service to the Association and inducted him as an “AOMC Honouree Member,” a status reserved for industrial giants.
