Asante-Mampong records slow start to biometric voter's registration

Sat, 24 Mar 2012 Source: GNA

The response to the compilation of a national biometric voter’s roll was not enthusiastic in the Asante-Mampong Municipality on the first day of the exercise.

A few people were seen standing in queues at a number of registration centres visited by the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

At the Krobo Community Centre, Mr Oteng Mensah, the Registration Officer, said eight applicants had been issued with their Voter Identification (ID) Cards as of 0900 hours.

The situation was not any different at the Nwoase M/A JHS, Aburukutuaso IJ Primary, and the Mampong Upper Primary/Methodist centres.

Ms Rhoda Appiah, Officer in-charge of Special Duties at the Mampong-Upper Primary/Methodist, was, however, optimistic that things would pick up.

So far they have not encountered any technical problems.**
