Kasei Primary and Junior High School (JHS) in the Ejura-Sekyedomase District has taken delivery of 646 various mathematics and science textbooks valued at about GH¢4,200.00.

These were a gift from a United States Christian group, “Brothers and Sisters in Christ (BASIC).

It is the second time in barely 12 months that the group has made books available to the school.

On hand to present them were Pastor Jerry Andrews of the First Presbyterian Church and his wife Lois Andrews from San-Diego-California, US.

They said the gesture was meant to complement efforts at strengthening the teaching of mathematics and science in the school.

They said they were confident that the books would significantly help to make the teaching and learning of the two subjects easier for both the teachers and students.

They therefore counseled the school authorities to ensure that these were properly handled.

Pastor and Mrs. Andrews said apart from the books, BASIC was also supporting 14 children in the school with scholarships and this involved payment of their schools fees to the senior high school level (SHS).

Right Reverend Dr. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, the Anglican Bishop of Kumasi who received the books on behalf of the school, thanked the group for the donation.

He said the children, their parents and the entire community were grateful for the tremendous contributions the US group was making towards the promotion of education in the area.

He said he had no doubt that the teachers and students would find the books useful.

Nana Kwabena Twumasi Antwi, the chief of Kasei, advised the school children to be disciplined and to work hard on their books since that was the way to success. **
