Dr. Alexis Nang-Beifubah, District Director of Health Services, told the Ghana News Agency that the exercise began on October eight when Bawku Presbyterian Hospital and Garu Health Centre recorded a number of CSM cases in September. He said so far 32 teams made up of 96 nurses, 63 technical staff, 40 supporting staff and seven supervisors have immunized 18,409 people against the disease. He said 9,706 people have also been immunized against yellow fever. Areas covered include Garu, Bugri-Kuka and Tempane-Werinyanga sub-district. The crash programme is scheduled to end on Saturday, October 18, when the teams move to the Bawku West District. Mopping-up exercises will, however continue.
