NDC's education policy more realistic - Veep

The Vice President of Ghana, Paa Amissah-Arthur has described as more realistic and pragmatic NDC’s approach to solving the educational challenges confronting the nation as against that of New Patriotic Party.

The Vice President said the government’s policy to eradicate schools under trees, expand access to education and reduce education cost is more comprehensive than merely abolishing payment of fees.

The Vice President made the observation when he was officially introduced as the running mate to President Mahama at a well attended ceremony at the National Theatre in Accra.

“Our proposals are more realistic than the ones that our opponents have put in place" Amissah-Arthur said.

He added that "we seek to increase access and improve the quality of education because if I pay the fees of the few people who are in school what do I do about the large numbers of people who are outside the school system.

"The NDC programme seeks to increase the access of people into the schools and progressively reduce the cost that the parents bear for them".

Meanwhile, President Mahama says he believes the choice of Amissah-Arthur will enable him transform Ghana from a lower middle income economy to a higher middle income economy.
