President Mahama is expected to lead a team of dignitaries from home and abroad to lay a wreath at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum to mark the 103rd birthday of Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

A series of activities have also been lined up to mark the Founders' Day. Among the activities is a colloquium themed “Nkrumah Never Dies” which is being organised with the support of the Socialist Forum of Ghana.

Founder's Day was declared by the late President Mills three years ago in memory of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking to XYZ News, Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Ablakwa said Nkrumah stands tall among his peers.

“He is a global phenomenon now. As we speak, the Africa Union has erected an effigy in his honour. There are many statues in Mali and in Europe about Kwame Nkrumah,” he said.

Meanwhile, Founder's Day is also ‘Action Day’ for the Convention People’s Party (CPP). Leading members of the party will embark on a community campaign across the country.

The Presidential Candidate, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster is in Tamale where he will move from one community to the other to get the party’s message of “Working Together Again” directly to the People.

The CPP has been struggling to come back to power since the overthrow of its founder Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1966.

Communications Director of the Party, Nii Armah Akomfrah told XYZ News the Action Day Campaign is a strategy to increase the party’s chances ahead of the Polls.
