SAMSUNG BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT NEXT MONTH

This year's Basic Schools Basketball Championship has been launched at a news conference in Accra. The Championship which will be held from the 22nd to the 30th of November will feature all Basic Schools in the country. It is being sponsored by AFKO IMEX a Chinese company in Ghana. The Chairman of the Amateur Basketball Association of Ghana, Mr.. Peter Kpodugbe, outlined the agenda for the Championship and noted that emphasis will be placed on the basic schools to ensure that a firm foundation is laid for the game in the country. The Executive Director of Afko Imex, Mr.. J.J. Cho, said his company's decision to help develop and promote the game of basketball in the country is due to its conviction that sports help to keep people healthy and raise productivity. He appealed to the media to give adequate coverage to the event. The Deputy Chief Sports Development Officer of the National Sports Council, Dr.. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah who chaired the function, repeated the Council's support for efforts by the Amateur Basketball Association to develop the game. End
