Seven armed robbers on Tuesday killed a 32 year-old business man, and injured two other persons at Esuoahyiam, near Samrebio, in the Western Region.

The body of Raymond Ofori has been deposited at the Asangragwa hospital morgue for autopsy.

The robbers attached a Metro Mass Transit (MMT) bus with registration number AS 7132-Y and a Toyota Highlander with registration number GR 5737/12.

Mr. David Gyabaa, crime officer in charge of Tarkwa confirmed the story to Ghana News Agency and said the tragedy occurred on Tuesday around 0730 hours at Esuoahyiam.

He said both vehicles were traveling from Samrebio (on the Asangrawa road); and the MMT bus was heading towards Kumasi while the private car that was being driven by the deceased, was traveling to Accra.

Mr. Gyabaa said on reaching Esuoahyiam, about five kilometers from Samrebio, the passengers in the two vehicles, observed that the road was blocked, and three armed men wearing masked and four others welding machetes emerged from the nearby bush.

The crime officer said the robbers attached the passengers, robbed them of unspecified amount of money and mobile phones.

Mr. Gyabaa said Ofori died instantly from a gun shoot from the robbers, and two passengers on the MMT bus sustained injuries.

The crime officer said that Hawa Abdulia, one of the injured, has been treated and discharged from hospital, but Eric Koffie, who sustained a gun shoot wound on the shoulder was receiving treatment at the Asangragwa hospital.

Mr. Gyabaa said no arrest has been made so far.
