The latest being the demise of the Volta Regional Minister, Henry Ford Kamel whose death was confirmed by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kamel who doubled as parliamentary member -elect for Buem Constituency in the Volta Region was announced dead on Tuesday by President John Dramani in a press statement in Accra.

Ford Kamel died of diabetic conditions which had afflicted them for several years.

The death of the Ghanaian leader John Atta Mills of the ruling NDC in July had hit the party supporters very hard as they trooped to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra to confirm whether the new about his death was true.

It was a solemn atmosphere at the Military Hospital owing to the celebration of the Christmas festivity.

His death was preceded by the deaths of two legislators from the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Owusu Ansah and Alhaji Ahmed Idi.

Bye-elections in their constituencies could not be held due to the closeness of the just ended December 7 general elections which confirmed Mills’ successor John Dramani Mahama as the country’s president.

The year 2012 is being seen as a tragic year for Ghanaian politicians when on November 16, 2012, former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama also passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after suffering heart related complications.
