The Managing Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Kenneth Agyei Kurankye, has described the State of the Nation Address presented by President John Mahama to Parliament as nothing but “poor” and “lazy” piece of work.
According to him, the document presented before parliament by the President on Friday had just eleven points and six pages, which according to him, did not address the numerous challenges bedeviling the nation.
Speaking on Citi FM, political programme the Big Issue, Mr. Kurankye reiterated “If you go through the document, the one I have before me is a lazy piece of work, eleven points document with double space and six pages, even if you were talking about the abridged version we have about 23 to 26 ministries running in the country with serious issues”.
He insisted that “even if you want to present the abridged version, you can abridged them based on sectors and ministries but you can’t choose only 2 or 3 sectors and present it to parliament as an abridged version”.
The Editor also stated that several sectors were ignored and therefore the document presented by the President cannot be called the state of the nation address.
“The first two paragraphs were spent on greetings, and then he moved into platitudes, he spoke on the death of Mills, commended the Speaker of Parliament, and after that he moved to the second page, he spoke about their unprecedented achievements, and you do not see one single piece of originality in the document”, he emphasized.
