‘Think outside the box’- Mahama urges Ministers

President Mahama has asked the new Ministers to think outside the box to enable them excel at their various ministries.

He has also asked them to reduce the unnecessary bureaucracy which stalls the execution of project.

The President said this after he swore in the seven ministers who were approved by parliament at the castle.

“It can’t be business as usual. You must think outside the box and see how things can be done more efficiently than has been done in the past. I sent you to those Ministries not to accept the mantra that this is how we have always done it but for you have the question “how can we make it better and more efficiently for the people of Ghana” in your mind,” he stated.

President Mahama further disclosed, “We have a problem with bureaucracy in our public sectors and also a time of delivery; the time we take for projects to come from their inception stage to implementation is too long and you must cut down on the unnecessary bureaucracy but still do it within the framework of the law.”

“You were elected by Ghanaians to serve and so you have to treat them with respect and dignity,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministers, Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh said the Ministers pledged to remain true to the vision of advancing the better Ghana Agenda.

“We recognize that it is both a responsibility and a privilege to help President Mahama execute the mandate bestowed upon him by Ghanaians,” she stated.

“We have taken note of the call for modesty, humility, efficiency, decency but more importantly; dynamism and moving away from business as usual. We understand that there is a huge responsibility on those of us he has delegated to make sure that we are true to the vision and we promise not to disappoint,” she added.
