The leadership of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) says it has met the Information and Media Relations minister over the attack on some media practitioners by some military officers during the independence anniversary celebration on Wednesday.

Two photographers with the Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic newspapers were brutally assaulted for positioning themselves to take a picture of the President during the celebration.

Information Minister Mahama Ayariga apologized to the journalists on behalf of the government for the incident.

But the GJA’s Vice President Affail Monney in an interview with XYZ News said an apology is not enough.

“We were in talks with our sector Minister Mahama Ayariga and he did apologise but we think an apology is not enough”.

“This is a case that the government must investigate and the perpetrators punished in the full glare of the public,” Affail Monney said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Public relations of the Ghana Armed forces Colonel Mbawini Attintande has confirmed that investigations are already underway to ascertain the truth of the matter.
