Ban On Importation of Over-Aged cars Abolished?

Fri, 23 Aug 2002 Source:

GOVERNMENT has abolished the special tax on specified goods imported into the country with immediate effect.

Also abolished is the ban on the importation of over-aged vehicles.

A senior CEPS source hinted that lifting of the special tax, which was protecting locally manufactured goods, is going to open all the industries to competition, both local and international.

The source further stated that there are going to be three categories of penalties to people who import saloon cars, buses and tipper-trucks.

More to follow.
