A lovely piece, but as someone remarked rather short. We'd love more of this. With respect to the Accra Harbour, was it really in use until 1962? Don't know, and not sure!

Wonderful rendition of Ga tradition and social heritage to date. The reading was exciting though i was taken aback by the role of Borketey Larweh in Ga mashi since he is from Nungua.History has that he was tricked and executed by the people of La.Though the various Ga tribes came to their present settlement at different times,Nungua is given the accolade as the first Ga settlers so I am surprised how they were driven back to their present location from Ga mashi.Nice piece though.

Well ; it is always said that if you do not know about the past it is very diffcult to determine the future; this piece of historical theatre ; simple in content about old Accra and what existed some years ago to me does not reflect the progress and development in Accra ; it is okay to come to Accra in all your luxury and perhaps having worked in the US or Europe and now enjoying your pension with such visits to Accra ; but to me as ACCRA man these kind of write ups and observation does not mean anything ;I would have preferred for such a visit to include a visit to schools and hospitals and perhaps adopt a child to assist them in their education at Bukom or Swalaba ; I love the historical narrations about the GAS ; but to me Accra is a pathetic sight and for the people in it; it is is a complete disgrace to see my people wallow in dirt and filth in Accra ; people who travel and wallow in nostalgia should attempt to help by helping and encouraging the children to go school; how about callig at the EEmpe Chiefs place to expres your concerns about the poor state of Accra ; so that these people can maintain the historical scenary of Accra because it is all disapperaing fast .

As someone wrote on SIL Forum (Ghanaweb):
Subject: Naa Darkoa's Ten Children. Please Help Save Them.
Author: Stryker Bodei (67.150.123.130)
Date: 06-24-2013 11:14
Naa Darkoa, a faithful Presbyterian who’s considered a paragon of motherhood has ten kids. In her West African neighborhood of dysfunctional families, she’s been dubbed the lonely shinning light of resilient moral turpitude worthy of emulation.
However, underneath all her outward moral uprightness lies a little secret. Mother Naa Darkoa treats her other nine children unfairly and favors only one among them, named Greater Accra Region. The names of her other nine kids are: Ashanti Region, Eastern Region, Upper West Region, Upper Region, Brong Ahafo Region, Western Region and Central Region, Northern Region and Volta Region.
To justify her favoritism towards Greater Accra Region, Naa Darkoa has given him a nickname- Capital. While her grandkids from her unfavorable kids school under trees, her son Greater Accra has lately been lavishly showered with gifts such a $200 million Jubilee House, Commuter Rail Transportation, George Bush Highway among other expensive projects.
It happens that Naa Darkoa’s source of income and wealth comes from the remittances of her other unfavorable nine kids. The one child name Western Region provides Naa with Cocoa, Gold, Diamonds, Buaxite, Timber and lately Oil revenues, yet the children of Western Region have no roads or potable water. By a weird traditional rule, the children are all supposed to send their income to their mother.
This source of inequitable treatment of Naa’s grandkids has come to the notice of Naa’s extended family. At the family meeting, Naa’s uncle in the US, uncle Fiifii suggested the following rule to modify Naa’s utterly reprehensible behavior:
““Any amount of foreign aid, loan, grant and national revenues budgeted to be expended in Accra and its Greater Accra environs under any circumstances during the fiscal year shall be suspended, withdrawn and reallocated unless the same amount is expended in each of the remaining nine Regions during that particular fiscal year”
The above bill pertains only to government-sourced revenues and excludes private development. Private Public Partnership will fall under the law.
What say ye? Should Naa Darkoa be on contraceptives or become a nun? Should the kids cut off remittances to their mom Naa Darkoa? Add to the bill to improve it without making it complicated. Help bring sanity to the house of Darkoa.
