I’m sorry – Nyantakyi

Nyantakyi Worried

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has apologized for the unguarded comments he made while he was away in the United States, concerning some immediate past executives of League Champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The FA boss revealed that intense provocation from some top management members of the K.K. Sarpong-led administration regarding the sale of some players of Kotoko had pushed him to the wall, resulting in the outburst.

Responding to an allegation by resigned International Relations Officer of Kotoko Kwame Baah-Nuako in an interview last week, he said, “With all due respect, what Baah-Nuako said was stupid. Who is he, and who is K.K. Sarpong that I will go and gossip about to Otumfuo?

“Baah Nuako is a young fellow and therefore should retract and apologize his statement about Otumfuo. Even his father will not be given the chance to clean Asantehene’s sandals?” the GFA boss had said.

But in a sharp U-turn yesterday, he said, “I want to say I am very sorry for those comments. I was provoked, hence the outburst, and I promise it wouldn’t happen again. You know that is foreign to my nature,”

The former Kotoko boss, Dr Sarpong, is believed to have laid down his tools following Otumfuo’s demands for player transfer transparency.
