The British High Commission on Friday announced new visa fees with effect from Monday, October 14. A statement from the British High Commission in Accra said the standard visa, student visa, transit visa and returning resident are now 485,000 cedis each.
Direct airside transit visa will now cost 365,000 cedis. One-year visa is now 810,000 cedis, two-year visa is 945,000 cedis, five-year visa is 1.190 million cedis, 10-year visa is 2.025 million cedis while settlement is 3.510 million cedis. Certificate of entitlement is 1.485 million cedis while "long term" is 1.015 million cedis.
It reminded visa applicants that the British High Commission only accepts Barclays Bank Drafts as payment for visa fees. Via fees are non-refundable. "However, to allow time to produce drafts for the new fees, for an interim period applicants will be required to obtain bank drafts for the old visa fee and then top-up the difference in cash.
"For example, previously a standard visit visa cost ?450,000, it now costs ?485,000. "Applicants will therefore, need to obtain a Barclays Bank Draft for ?450,000 and pay the remaining ?35,000 in cash at the British High
Commission on presentation of the visa application." The statement said applicants should also be aware that Barclays Bank charges an administration fee of ?20,000 for the provision of bank drafts.
This is in addition to the visa fee and is non-refundable. It reminded the general public that the Visa Section is open from 7.30am to 10.30am on week days, the Consular Section is open from 7.30am to 12.30pm, whilst all other sections are open from 7.45am to 2.45pm.
