Lets analyse the 2012 elections and see if the Ashanti region did not sabotage Akkuffo Addo. The number of registered voters in Ashanti region was reduced meaning the NPP executives did not encourage the registration exercise. Again the NDC had more votes which helped increase their percentage. One need not tell Obiri Boahen and co that there is no division in NPP and continue to stay in opposition.

Are the Ayikoi Otoo's and the like suggesting that Akans should stop contesting for positions in the party. Is Ayikoi Otoo suggesting that somebody should appoint people for positions rather than elect and in this way decide to appoint other tribes except Akans. I just don't get it. This is certinly not a matter that any serious person who loves his party should throw it in the public domain, especially when it not anybody's making that Akan's dominate in NPP. It will only make sense such discussions are done behind closed doors so that a strategy is adopted to give key positions to minority tribes. Ayikoi Otoo should know that this is not a problem that can be sloved in the public domain.

In my opinion, which is more or less a fact, so far as politics is concerned in Ghana, UP/NPP is not and has not been a political party that has a development agenda for the entire people of Ghana in our nations history. UP/NPP is a tribal coalition of elite Ashantis and Akyeams, whose fundamental agenda is to divide the country for their personal greedy interests.
Their impression to be a political party is fake, and all they need is votes from other tribes to facilitate the ASHANTI/AKYEAM agenda.
Had there been anytime in the nations history that a non ASHANTI/AKYEAM had been the flag bearer of their party? (UP/NPP)
Currently, it seems there is fighting for supremacy between the two (2) ethnic groups,(Ashantis/Akyeams) as to who leads the party in Ghanaian elections. The Ashanti caucus in the NPP are disappointed in the Akyeams for their failure to win the national elections in 2008-2012, and are bent on pulling them down to take over the leadership in the 2016 elections. Lets be honest and roll back our memories to the post-Independence era. How do they treat people in their party who are not an Ashanti/Akyeam? Akufo-Addo and his "Akyeam Mafia" must respect the majority voice of the people, and back down for a peaceful Ghana.
Kuffour under the NPP were declared victors by the same chairman of the EC, (Dr Afari Djan) in 2000 and 2004, and even though the NDC cried foul in the 2004 elections, they conceded for the sake of a peaceful Ghana. Since 1951, the UP/NPP had never accepted results of an election in Gold Coast/Ghana if is not in their favour. A confirmation of their divide and rule agenda, by the ELEMENTS OF SEDITION in the Ghana political system, who have sworn to render Ghana UNGOVERNABLE. They seem to forget that, WHO EVER GOD HAS ORDAINED, NO MAN CAN PUT ASUNDER.

K Asamoah do you want the party to rather impose a candidate on the rest of the members based on his or her ethinicity? That is what NDC did and see where that has got us. There are better qualified people who could have done a far better job than Mahama if they had been allowed to contest. Only competent people should be elected as flag bearers and not appointed. We should be careful how we handle such issues. We should not throw competency out of the window to settle for politically correct appointments. If we want to develop as a country, let there be competition and the best candidate win.

Massa, is it not true that, no other member of any tribe in Ghana has ever been nominated to lead the NPP, apart from the Ashantis and Akyems in recent times? Even when the elders were alive under the UP party, it was Busia from Brong-Ahafo who was the Prime Minister and Akuffo-Addo's father was the ceremonial president. So you see, with hindsight, Attorney General Ayikoi OTU is RIGHT and spot on there. NPP will either change it's ways or die and this is no curse nor magic but common sense looking into the future of politics in Ghana. it is likely a 3rd force from within NDC and NPP will merge to take over power in Ghana and that will be very interesting to behold.

The NPP has allowed the NDC to play all the dirty tricks - tribal; rigging etc while the NPP has concentrated on internal squabbles. Call them out. It is the party Awoonor envisaged.
I do not think it is the party leadership in the NPP that is the sticking point, but the sense of entitlement within these 2 ethnic groups - Akyem/Ashanti - to lead the party in presidential elections.
