The Minister of Lands and Forestry, Professor Kassim Kasanga, has been accused by timber contractors in the Ashanti Region of playing politics with the recent cancellation of the Timber Utilization Contracts (TUCs), which has generated a hectic debate between him and the timber merchants.
They accused him of displaying gross ignorance about some procedures involved in the acquisition of the TUCs, and said, he is doing that to satisfy his personal whims and political cronies in the timber industry who did not acquire the TUC.
They expressed their grievances to THE INDEPENDENT and their utmost disgust and disappointment about the action of the Minister, which to them, is an attempt to throw them out of business.
