Kuffuor's per diem alone is bleeding Ghana dry.......
For ever $1000 he brings in, he spens takes 5 times that amount in per diem and five times that amount on his entourage.
Who's gaining grounds here, Kufuor on Ghana or Ghana on investments.
You do the math.
Kwasi Ghanaba

JAK's trips on foreign investments is the best thing any good president who has promised his country of a change in their lives should do. He can not promise Ghanaians for that change and sit in his office in Accra. A good boss must go to field himself too.
Thomas Baidu

Jak *** should stop waisting the few foreign reserves we have and settle home to see to pertinent problems Ghanaians are facing. We did not vote him a per diem president!!!!!!!!
Asana Ibrahim

The Akans has a saying: "Anomaa antu a, obuada" [ Not as Rawlings twisted it: "Anomaa antu a, ogina ho" ] Just under two years of Kufuor's Governmet , positive thinking people has realised he is on the right track. Do not listen to the opposition NDC Who will oppose every good thinng the ruling party is doing because they couldin't do that in twenty years . It is rather the boom boom speaches that is scaring the foreign investers away.

It is true that marketing is important to attract investment for Ghana. However, it is a waste of everybody's time if one embarks on marketing an unwholesome product, because soon it will be rejected.
How is the domestic business growing/, the other time I read on the internet the former opponent of tax in Ghana (Dr Apraku) saying govt was considering increasing taxes, they must be joking, at the moment conditions in developed countries look more reasonable for investment more than the some developing countries.
The president should rather emback on an intensive mobilisation of Ghanaians both home and away to invest without unecessary party political obstacles. I for one can't see the investment comming to Ghana sinply because he has visited a lot of countries. The investor is also watching the existing investors in Ghana, who knows what will happen to them if NPP is out of power. He is simply wasting the money or embarking on his hobby.
amoagya

I strongly believe in exploration and that is exeatly what the president is doing. Countrymen, we need to understand the importances of knowing the other side of the world and who can assisted us. It is high time that the masses are educated on the need for the president going out of the country to solicit for help to better the living standards of the people, and introducing private investors into the economy in creating jobs for our brothers and sisters back home who have nothing to do. I wish him the best of luck.
Samuel Nana Duodu

Investors do not flock into a country for the simple fact that a president paid them a visit. My advice to JAK is "Seek ye first the domestic infrastructure base and the investors will come themselves". Another thing, who will want to invest in a country where foreign investors are welcome by the present government but chastised by future governments? The Malaysians and Ghana Telecom are a case in point.
NANA KASA

Though the world today is refered to as global villiage, there more third world counties fighting for the same foreign investments, so if you continue to stay home no foreign investor will come.
Also Africa is portrayed to the outside world as a warton zone, so one needs to go and explain things to them.
The presence of 'the gentle gaint' could attract more aids to the country; a case in point is 350 computers he received from Japan It also shows how determined the president is to build the colapsed economy to the outside world.

Emmanuel okomeng-Agyekum

Unless the necessary infrastructure needed to promote investments for profitability, not many investors would come to Ghana. The government MUST create a better economic environment to attract foreign investors.
Addae Mununkum

It has contributed greatdeal to the people of Ghana because after joining the HIPIC the only way he can convince the investers to invest in the country is to travel to their door steps to present his economic plans. Therefore I see nothing wrong for his travilling.
Yaw Ketewa( USA)

In my opinion the President appears uninspiring and has jettison the real issue of providing visionary leadership. He failed to to use the opportunity to raise the country's image during the just concluded Africa Union project and allowed THAMBO and Wade of Senegal to raise their countries profile. Perceptions are vitally important in international relations generally and and moreso in international business ; unless the President emphasise Ghana's strategic position as the provider and forerunner of cutting edge ideas coupled with high quality human resource sufficiently imbued with democratic values, the President is unlikely to make the expected impact.
james kosi

Presedent trips is making a great deal, one example is that of the $80 million dollars grant from the Japaness gov't, it is very amazing b'cos , this issue was a Political issue with a lot of noise, that if we go HIPC, we will not be given that loan for the cape-coast road, Yet when HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT KUFFOUR make the Trip there , we had that money as a grant, it is good he make more trips
sandy

JOKERS!! Kinda suprised that people don't realise it. Geez!! One adjective to describe him? Tourist!!!!

Investment are not made based on presidents travels. they are made when the b'ness community decide that there is an enabling environment for them to invest in. the impression that western states do have a magical hold over their b'ness community and that the mere presence of an african leader would draw businessmen in their number to ghana is silly.i think Kuffour is wasting our money all the travels he is making. it could be better spent in providing an enabling environment.
TK

People don't invest in a country because the President visits them. They invest because conditions in the country are favourable for investment. Favourable conditions include internal infrastructural development, favourable laws and stability of investment as well favourable political conditions in the sub-region. The government should concentrate on creating the favourable atmosphere first before going round to tell people what we have. Land (land tenure system and duping of investors), means of communications such as roads and railways systems are still in poor shape.
Secondly, the small population of Ghana is not attractive enough for large multinational corporations. Ghana could have served as a gateway to the West African sub-region if there was peace in the region. With the situation in the region now outsiders don't see the stable, peaceful Ghana. They only see a volatile sub-region which is not good for the security of investment.
Thirdly, the government has created the impression that any foreign investor that had cordial relationship with the NDC should be thrown out. This is setting bad precedence that scarce others.
Kwame Yeboah

President's travel has contributed great deal to the people of Ghana .All the investment drive are as a result of his travel overseas. Those who are saying that he travels too much are saying so out of jealosy and that their master didn't do that for fear of being overthrown.
Atta Buabeng

Travelling to one's country to tell him or her to come and invest in your? If this is the only reason for attracting investment, then it is alright for the Prez to roam about like he is doing now. However, this is not the case. If we can put the socio-economic structures of the country in place first, we wouldn't need to waste money to go and announce. This because, just as the bible said, "they'll know us by our fruit".
Again, drawing from the good old book, "We need to seek the kingdom of God first (i.e. fixing the social and economic backbone for a smooth take off of every possible and fruitful venture) and all other things will be added unto us (meaning, and the so-called investors will come down to Ghana and invest themselves). Mr. Prez, stop the unnecessary travelling then and put your 'filthy house', which you promise to clean in order.
How can Prez JAK visit another Prez (Jiang Zemin of China) who has himself travelled outside. In JAK's case, he has to wait for his supposed host come back to welcome him. Aahhh!! Why? These are all an attempt to accumulate the 'increased' per diem, and nothing else.
Adona Shaddai

Whether the travels will have any impact or not depends no the motive behind it. This is because, the message that he will be `preaching` or sending out will either welcome investors or drive them away. A case in point is the alledged conversation between him (pres.J.A.K.) AND OTHER hEADS OF STATES at the just ended U.N . Gen . Assem bly, about the former president(Rawlings). If really it is true, then with all appologies your exellency,YOU HAVE DRIVE A LOT OF POTENTIAL INVESTORS away. The facts as it is presented on the internet does not make our country a viable place to `pump` money in. The whole story is so cheap and disgraceful. In the nutshell, the number of travels does not matter but mr.president, what you say is what matters.Thank you and Long live our dear nation, GHANA.
BENAT NANASEI

All you Ghanaians who just do not want to see the President out of the country because you think it is not bringing investment enough, I have this for you. Presidential travels are not solely for investment. Period If you guys will invest in the country and stop talking, the Presidential travels will reduce to the minimunm. It is a shame to only critisize while you have nothing good to offer the nation.
Richardak Omeah

the president is very evasive in his endevours. there is no transparency regarding his destinations. if this is a game of numbers just as in markerting and sales, he needs to work out the ratio of the cost involved with these trips vis a vis the number of positive affirmed responses he would get from these trips. what he is selling is not a commodity or item that is in demand anyhow. i do not think the trips would make any difference. he could contact these countries effectively by lobbying their representatives in ghana, namely, their embassies and consulates-that's why they are in the country. whatever trips he takes that country would definately seek counsel from its representative before even considering it. it is a long shot. he should work through our representatives and telephone comm with these leaders.
personally i believe he just wants to conquer the world on tax payer generousity. traditionally and i do not mean to sound biased, ashantis like to talk about foreign countries they have been to. that legacy is strong and alive in this president
sydney

the trips are by themselves good cos they can yield good results even if not now but my problem is the frequency which I hate The pres should be careful cos different reasons are given to the trips .

HE IS WAISTING OUR MONEY INSTEAD OF TRYING TO SOLVE THE MAIN ISSUES AT HOME. YOU'VE GOT TO TIDY UP YOUR HOME BEFORE BRINGING VISITORS. WE HAVE ARMED ROBBERY ON THE RISE HOW CAN NEW BUSINESSES SURVIVE UNDER SUCH CONDITION? AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED HE AND HIS GOVERNMENT ARE TOTALLY ---------- AND I PRAY THE GOOD LORD WILL PUT SOMEONE OF HIS CHOICE THERE IN THE NEXT ELECTION. HE IS USING TAX PAYERS MONEY TO VISIT FOREIGN COUNTRIES IN ORDER TO BRAG IN FUTURE OF THE PLACES HE IS VISITED, A REAL JJC. HE SHOULD GET BACK TO PLANET EARTH AND DO SOMETHING OTHERWISE HE WILL NEVER BE REMEBERED AS ONE OF THE GREATS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HIS GOVERNMENT. I SPEAK FOR MOST GHANAIANS I THINK WE NEED SOMEONE LIKE RAWLINGS BACK. KUFFOUR, IS TIME TO GO!!!!
