Kwarteng, I don't believe anyone will accuse Nkrumah as a racist. However, he went to bed with the communist/ socialist block and got his nuts in the wringer. As a radical, Nkrumah preferred the PAC to the ANC and hence his refusal to meet Mandela when Mandela
visited Ghana in 1962. Nkrumah was a radical dictator and help breed the Mugabes of the world. May be you like that brand of politics, but some of us don't. We lean towards Mandela who never sought to be president for life, but compromised with even his enemies. He may
not have achieved economic equality for blacks in a South Africa, but he saved the country from imploding. To me, Mugabe is an asshole and disappointment. He should, therefore, never be celebrated as you seem to be doing.

Nkrumah used the same princile used by the Nationalist party in S Africa, the Marshall Plan and the Obama to keep USA afloat . What was socialist about it? Do you practice free enterprise when you do not even earn a dollar a day? Have you asked why the Restaurant Workersa nd wal mart workers are striking fr better wages? Stop your book long

Hello fellas,
I have read your pieces and agree with you both. To Kojo T, I have had the same problem with some friends.
Some of my friends throw the words "communism" and "socialism" about and when you ask them to explain what they mean, you become an instant enemy.
You ask them to tell you the differences among fascism, communism, and socialism, Kojo T, and that's another battle.
I am still surprised to hear people say China is a communist country when it's more capitalist than the social democratic countries in Europe (Scandinavian, possibly). Fortunately, I have stopped doing battle in this area.
To EBENZAK, let me assure you that more of these kind of essays are coming your way. I hope you will read them and provide me with your critiques.
One thing, though. I am happy well-informed Africans voted Robert Mugabe "the third-greatest African of all time," Kwame Nkrumah "man of the millenium," and Nelson Mandela "no. 1 greatest African of all time."
This is all that matters to me. I have my favorites in the top three. I didn't care who cames first, second, or third when this came. I still do.
Where are the other cowardly Ghanaians who opposed Nkrumah? To tell you the truth, most of them are not even known outside Ghana. Let me leave to do some work. I hope you two are doing just fine!
Talk to you guys again.

Kwarteng, you have a depth of knowledge in international relations as it pertains to Africa and our struggle to dismantle white supremacy. Great work but please the big words, tone it down for the weak.
