Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, an NDC presidential aspirant, has pledged to be loyal to Prof. J. E. A. Mills, if he (Botchwey) loses to him in the forth-coming national congress of NDC scheduled to take place in late December. Dr. Botchwey, a former Finance Minister for 13 years, said he would be ready to accept any post that shall be offered to him by ex-Vice President Mills, in an interview with Chronicle at Sunyani on a question whether he would like to be the running mate of Prof. Mills, if he loses to Mills.
Answering the question, Dr. Botchwey described it as an interesting one, because he is confident to win the flagbearership. The former finance minister promised to offer Prof. Mills a prominent place, if he (Botchwey) wins the presidential candidacy of the party. According to him, the era in which only one person dictated to the party is over, so members need to elect their choice to lead the party to victory. He said NPP, which is not even a democratic party like the NDC, in the last general elections accepted six aspirants to vie for its flag bearer ship. The election of parliamentary candidates of the party, according to him, should be allowed to be conducted on primaries, and stop appointing candidates at the constituencies.
Speaking at a meeting with party executives in Brong Ahafo, Mr. Kwabena Kyere, former Deputy Minister for Education, launched an attack on 'GTV Breakfast Show' and the management of GBC for entertaining some three persons to continue destroying NDC. Mr. Kyere said the members boldly told the whole world their stand on political issues of the country, which he described as unprofessional on the part of Journalists of such calibre.
The former deputy minister regretted that the journalists plainly stated that they would ensure that NDC would not return to power. Mr. Kyere however declined to mention the names of the journalists, but maintained that everybody knows them and they know themselves. He therefore appealed to the management of GBC to occasionally review panellists of the GTV Breakfast Show and other important programs to give more creditability to the only state electronic media in the country.
