Sat, 23 Nov 2002 Source: .

Alban Bagbin said he is not happy about the Speaker?s response to the memorandum, saying he (Speaker) did not present the issues properly. ?He made me feel as though I do not know what I am doing?, Bagbin said.

The minority citing various instances which he and the minority group brought issues before Mr. Speaker and the House, said a lot of partisanship was displayed in handling those issues. He referred to their boycott when the Member for Ningo/Prampram, E.T. Mensah was arrested and when the MP for Wenchi West, Johnson Asiedu Nketia (affectionately called General Mosquito) was assaulted on the orders of a District Chief Executive.

?I respect him, but he should not allow his partisanship to cloud his thinking?, Bagbin said of the Speaker who is a known NPP faithful and a former national chairman of the ruling party.

Bagbin also condemned the stand of the majority on these matters and asked them to change in the interest of the House and the entire nation. He said the matters being raised by the minority, are matters for the whole House and so should not be handled in a partisan manner, although he himself has been accused of taking a partisan stand when he instructed his colleagues to boycott Parliamentary proceedings although the issues were not brought to the attention of the House.
