At the same time, he seems to be demanding laws to regulate the behaviour of people he deem as homosexuals when actually he is calling for laws against 'pedophiles'.
We already have laws against child abusers and child abusers can be homosexuals or heterosexuals so Mr Pobee should have titled his article about child abusing instead of homosexuals because child abuse is more prevalent in heterosexuals than homosexuals. How many times do we read in this forum about underage sexual activities involving old men and underage girls?

In the US, and other nations in the west, the LGBT lobby is doing everything possible to make LGBT rights human rights, especially, in the poor Third World countries .
Opposition to homosexual activities are likely to result in the cutting off of aid (no pun intended). This means that Ghana should do everything possible not rely on aids from World Bank, IMF & USaid, if we are really opposed to homosexual activity.

Uganda has passed their anti homosexual laws and that is their right. The west has also decided they don't believe they should be giving aid to a country that does not believe in their culture, that is their right too. The west does not owe any African country.

Having said so, I think it will be appropriate for those who choose to do that, do it at the comfort of their privacies, instead of trying to potray it as something that is the norm of mother Ghana. I´m yet to see someone coming out to tell the public that he or she is a hetrosexual as the homosexuals have been doing all over the world. Why not keep quite and do your own thing in privacy? We need to be very careful about the way the West is forcing us to destroyed our identities, rich customs and culture heritage at the expense of Aid or Grant or whatever they called it. Over here, they have started marrying animals. Very soon, in the name of freedom, these very few among us, would do the same thing, if care is not taken. If the United States is refusing Aids that is supposed to help the majority of the people in Uganda because of the unacceptable behaviour of a few people among the majorities, then there is something seriously wrong somewhere, and freedom must be redifined. If women can now masturbate on stage and called it freedom of expression, then a line must be drwan. We are Africans first and formost. What I witnessed a few months ago when I was in Ghana has left a sour taste in my mouth. Why are we trying to copy these people, and for what reasons! We have a long way to go.

Ghana boasts of being a predominantly Christian nation and I believe this. That being the case why don't we want to live the religion we have chosen? For many ghanaians Christianity is just another social club and will only live its principles and doctrines only when they suit them.
In the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus asked:"Who was neighbor to the wounded Jew"?and the answer was the "Samaritan". The samaritans and jews were neighbors who were sworn enemies. What Jesus sought to teach his followers was every person, friend or foe, is neighbor to us and we must love each person as oneself.
The Golden Rule ,"Whatever you would that others should do unto you, do same unto them"is taught by Christianity, Judaism, Muslim, Hinduism, and Confucianism and it's very disappointing that whenever it comes to living it most people are found wanting. Of course professing to be one person is so much different from being that person. What happened to the christian principles of charity and compassion, forgiveness, patience and tolerance, being my brother's keeper, etc?
On the Sermon on the Mount Jesus taught his followers to love their enemies. Even if one considers a person who is gay as an enemy, Jesus wants nothing but love for this enemy. Else how would christians obey the commandment to evangelize the whole world if they refuse to love their so-called enemies or how would wrong ever become right when we are all wrong? How can the blind lead the blind?
Having said all these I wish we can separate religion and culture from politics and allow each person to worship who and what they may or be an atheist. We are all equal before the law and we should uphold each others rights. Injustice to one person is injustice to all. I'm christian and not gay but I see the plight of gays among us first as a human rights issue before any other consideration. In many ways I'm like Pobee-Mensah.
