I find it strange that some NPP executives are rallying around Nana Addo. This is a man who launched 2 ineffective election campaigns and an election petition and lost all of them. How can he be the best candidate to win 2016 general elections? This is the same man who lost all 4 swing regions to NDC,lost the majority seats in parliament to NDC,how can he beat NDC in 2016?There is another paradox that we need to understand.Nana Addo lost both 2008 and 2012 general elections on a very bad note.He went to court to challenge all his defeats. The question I always asked myself is that, will Nana Addo go to court again when he loses? Will the NDC accept the results if Nana Addo wins? This tells you that NPP will be putting Ghana in a high tension because of Nana Addo.I am sure if NPP goes by this ineffective strategy again, the electorate will punish them severely.Thank you.

"This will be the sad end of this great tradition" Wow! What kind of tradition is this man talking about? The crimial tribal tradition you mean? I do not have a vote but if I have it, I will not give it to a tribal party like the NPP led by a violent arrogant old man with divisive charatcer, who think he is born to be president, if even people should die. President Mahama may not be performing to the expectations of Ghanaians, but it is not, I repeat, not Akufo Addo led NPP that can change things. After all, they are the cause of what we are experiencing right now. Have we so soon forgotten the loots of national assets? What is the single achievement of Akufo Addo when he was in government?
To majority of us, Kufour is a good organizer and a good unifier. That is why Akufo Addo is still around to be disturbing our peace. Kufour would have booted this incompetent fake man outright, when he was messing up at the Attorney General´s outfit. When Kufour sent him to the foreign affairs, he dished out our diplomatic passports to his relatives for drug business. Is that the achievement for which he should be rewarded? There are avalanche of issues hanging on his neck which every Ghanaian is fully aware of. It is as if this charatcer called Akufo Addo is something better than the man he is trying to potray himself. A tribal bigot without equal. This is the thing that wants to rule over us. God forbid! Ghanaians are not fools. We have not forgotten the eight good months that this greedy man held the whole country for ramsom. President! Not in this generations.

I fathom to understand why many people are so concerned or worried over the future candidature of Nana on the NPP ticket!! The only guess I can make is people's morbid fear of Nana's anti-corruption stance should he ascend the Presidency of Ghana.Who says age is a barrier in national politics? History is replete with older people who have ascended to the presidency of their countries and performed creditably to the admiration of both old and young. If Nana at his age is fighting to be the President of Ghana ,I believe he probably wants to prove something to ghanaians and it is not what people say about his age or height that matters if it is the divine will that he should be a president. Those who have chosen to demonize him therefore should find something else to do as it is the will of God that will prevail at last. Are the results of the last elections not telling all those people something--that he is popular with only a few hundreds of votes cast between him and the President? All those people should stop day dreaming that he can never become the President of Ghana. All Ghana needs is peace in development and freedom and justice for all irrespective of party affiliation, religious belief, ethnicity, creed or whatever in a United Ghana.

You are an illiterate. Did Akuffo-Addo tell the court that he was cheated? If you want legal votes cast to be annulled to be declared President, is it a wise decision? Elections are won at the Polling Centres and not in the Courts. How many regions voted for him? How many MPs did he win in Parliament? Can such a man be declared a President? Simply put, Ghanaians rejected that short man with a sinister face, Akuffo Addo.

We appreciate that quality but only a few of us would exhibit it. That is the problem you probably meant to articulate, and I would agree with that.
Yes, I agree with the idea to retire Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from his Party's Flagbearership. He might have had that dream but I doubt that the suggested Ghana's success in the dream depended on his leadership.
He should step aside to let the Bawumias, Allan's and Drs Frimpong Boatengs and Arthur Kennedys take up the mantle. These folks are better suited for our time and have track record of attracting trans-party admiration that could translate into adequate votes to win the next Election. If Nana runs, the NPP will lose. Period! There is no divine anointment for Nana to be Ghana's President. If the dream he claims to have had suggested that he had been anointed, we better brace ourselves for a nightmarish Ghana.
He has no humility and courage to defend the nation from corruption and other vices afflicting us. His record more than amply establishes that. He might regain a bit of the Nation's general admiration if he stepped down and possibly became the Party's Patriarch. He ought to curb his selfish ambitions to allow the others the chance to lead. I see his resort to spiritualism as a cunning ploy to lure the ordinary folks, many of whom are superstitious, or obsessed with the surge of spiritualism, or resigned into divine intervention as our only escape. No! God helps those who help themselves, and a pragmatic leadership with vision is what Ghana needs.
Long Live Ghana!!!

?EU fear of GM food from US hampers historic trade deal
March 13, 2014 00:10

An ‘enormous gulf’ has been exposed between the EU and the US through Europe’s reluctance to buy hormone meat or GM food from the US. Industry and labor groups voiced concern to EU and US negotiators that the globe’s biggest trade pact was under threat.
“There is an enormous gulf between the EU and US positions,” said Michael Dolan, a lobbyist for the US Teamsters Union at the fourth round of trade talks between the EU and US in Brussels on Wednesday.
The talks marked an unusual occasion, being the first time that lobbyists were received, and additionally marking the first time that the forum allowed reporters inside.
Those involved in negotiating a pact have expressed a desire to finalize a deal before the end of the year. Eight months of talks have already passed. However, tensions which have underscored trade talks worldwide have been a drawback, and continued low public support for the deal has exacerbated tensions over food.
Despite this, its supporters say the deal would lead to some $100 billion per year in growth on both sides, and the EU says that ‘Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership’ (TTIP) is under threat from protesters it deems ‘anti-globalization’.
In 2012, the EU exported $16.6 billion in farm produce to the US, while US farmers delivered $9.9 billion to Europe. The gap was largely blamed on the EU ban on GM food imports.
“Our trade could be way bigger,” Douglas Nelson, a CropLife America adviser told Reuters. “The TTIP is a way to normalize trade with the European Union.”
However, EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht frequently reasserts that there will be no changes to the EU regulation of GM food even if an agreement is reached with the US.
The EU is also closed to US beef from cattle raised with growth hormones.
On March 10, the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) secretary, Owen Paterson, added his backing to an EU proposal that may prompt the fast-tracking of GM crops for commercial cultivation in the country.
Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, GM Freeze, the Soil Association and GeneWatch UK added their signatures to a letter to UK Prime Minister David Cameron condemning the plans.
GeneWatch UK director, Helen Wallace, stated that Monsanto and other GM companies were “desperate to push their GM crops into other countries before the devastating impacts on wildlife and farming destroy existing markets,” according to local publication Farmers Weekly.
