MP fights with DCE

Thu, 2 Jan 2003 Source: Daily Guide

The tension that has engulfed some district assemblies, following perceived differences that their MPs have with the DCEs for one reason or another, has reared its ugly head in the Ahafo-Ano District of Ashanti as well.

Reports reaching DAILY GUIDE speak of a near physical clash between the DCE of the area, Mr. Kwaku Obeng Boateng, and Hon. Stephen Kwaku Balado Manu, MP for the constituency, on December 21, allegedly over an insulting language, which the DCE was reported to have used on the Basare people in the area.

In view of that, Hon. Manu was said to have gone to the NPP office at Mankranso, the district capital where he allegedly met the DCE and engaged in furious verbal assaults with him.

Reports claim that but for the timely intervention of some of the on-lookers, including NPP gurus in the district, the hot exchanges between the two, would have degenerated into violence.
