Hi Doc! I admire and respect your concerns, however, I do not see any pragmatic suggestions from you. President Kuffour has made his suggestions as a concern citizen, I will appreciate if you come out with your suggestions rather than blatantly condemning someone. This will never lead our cherished country anywhere. It's about time we burry our political differences and work together for the good our country.

Why the word "ridicule?"
What exactly do you gain by ridiculing somebody for making a suggestion even if you do not agree with him? No wonder Ghana is going nowhere fast,if intellectuals like Dr. Borkor can ridicule the opinion of others.

As the days go by more and more people wake up to the reality of the ndc anti Akan hate agenda and their deep rooted corrupt dark souls of evil .This was first initiated by the Ewes and through Mahama and his brothers being championed today by the northerners. We see in Iraq/Syria the announce of the Islamic caliphate state and their map which now includes Ghana and the whole of West Africa .Most people are ignorant of the fact that unlike in Christianity and other religions whereby the leaders or priests are men of peace in Islam their imams or priests advocate for war and destruction of the non believers and when war starts every single one of them assumes the title emir and becomes the captain of a murderous horde as we saw in Libya and with the boko haram. The mosque is not only a place of worship but an army fortress or barracks and that is why they must in the design in every area which is not predominately Muslim its required to have a tall reconnaissance tower. we see in Accra and other places these mosques spring up all over the place at militarily very strategic positions but we are vigilant and when our bloody revolution starts we will raze all these structures to the ground and drive out this menace from our midst . There are some brainwashed idiotic fools who still believe mahama has good intentions but don't know he is a Muslim disguised as a christian which Islam allows and his only agenda is to weaken with corruption and destroy with negligence the Akan economy so the caliphate can be achieved that is why no project of strategic importance can see the light of day under his watch. As for the Ewes his partners in crime all i can say is have you ever wondered why when you go to Togo there the Ewes are very nice people and true African brothers but the moment you cross the Aflao border into Ghana the ayigbe wickedness , hate and evil starts? The ewes in Togo know these ayigbe are so bad and useless that they are not interested in reuniting with them but would rather throw them all into the sea. We should find a way to trick them into taking them back as we Akans will definitely be better off without this foolish idiotic people. Mahama and his brothers have stolen so much that even the bank of Ghana admits they dont know where our foreign reserves have disappeared to , i can tell you where , Turkey , Iran, Dubai and other Muslim countries where its safe for them. Congrats to Kumasi for hitting the nail on the head and exposing the discrimination and abuse of the civil/human rights with the WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO YOU demonstration , today we see idiots and saboteurs trying turn it into a question of mere economics , even one idiot woman came out with a humiliating brainless idea to go naked just to deflect from the main core issue of discrimination against the Akans. My people we have only one problem and if that's solved the rest will be easy , the problem is discrimination and the Anti Akan agenda of part of this mafia ndc . its never about npp , ndc ,left or right wing ideology politics but simply pepeni/ayigbe tribalism against Akan nationalist evolution. They are only attracted to ideas that only destroy our economy like this EPA paramount foolishness with the Europeans or giving away our gold fields to foreigners who never invest here in the name of prudent business , end result our people are exploited and made poorer. we shall never surrender or be fooled again. While we were thinking of a better Ghana for ALL citizens they were thinking of only themselves and destroying the future for our children . We need to have our revolution and secede to form our own state as they will never change.

I do respect Ex-President Kufuor a lot but I totally disagree with all his suggestions as most are unworkable. First, the abolition of the office of Vice-President is not workable because in Ghana, an Executive President cannot hand over government business to a Prime Minister (though that is what is practised in France). It will only work in Ghana if the President is non Executive President (ceremonial) as it was under the 2nd Republic. I cannot also see how a non-Executive Prime Minister would be accountable to Parliament. The one with Executive powers is the best to be accountable to Parliament as in the current system (through Ministers appointed by the Executive President and not non-Executive Prime Minister as Kufuor is suggesting).
I appreciate that democracy is expensive. However, with 275 MPs for a small country like Ghana, it is already too expensive, let alone add a second Chamber of Parliament. For this reason and others, I also disagree with the a second Chamber of Parliament. Again, Kufuor is wrong to suggest that a second chamber should hold the Executive accountable. The first Legislature has the primary function (among others) of holding the Executive accountable and not the second Chamber. The second chamber ensures that the first chamber is doing its work well, especially, in the area of scrutinising and passing bills and programmes of the Executive (as done here in the UK and the USA).
Moreover, with Ghana polarised between NDC and NPP, I cannot fathom how the suggestion by Kufuor that the 2nd chamber should be non partisan could be achieved in Ghana. Ghana does not need a second chamber but rather the legislature must be able to hold the Executive properly accountable rather than a situation where the Legislature is just a rubber stamp for the Executive since the Fourth Republic.
Finally, Kufuor is wrong to suggest an extension of the presidential term to five years. Yes, some countries have five or six years. Others, including the US have four years and it works. There is no need for an extension and Ghana should stick to the four years. Just imagine if President Mahama is unable to turn around the economy in 2015/16 and if Ghanaians had to endure that till January 2018 instead of January 2017. No, no and no to term extension by another year.
I am glad Kufuor did not agree to coalition government on proportional representation. I agree with him as I expressed in my article on Ghanaweb on July 4, 2014. That idea is very silly.

Kudos to Kufuor for speaking out on national issues since leaving office. For example, in his capacity as Special Envoy of the United Nations on Climate Change,we heard him challenging both the developed and developing countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that are harmful to our planet (See "Climate Change: Kufuor says no time to for blame game", GhanaWeb, 2 April, 2014).
And less than three months later, JAK "struck a rhythm on serious political dynamics" that I, unlike Dr. Bokor, agree with.
The former President is right in calling for a bicameral legislature; though I don't share his view of converting the Council of State into an Upper House, or abolishing the Office of the Vice President and replacing it with the Office of the Prime Minister.
We need a constitutional amendment that would create an Upper House made up of patriotic men and women of integrity, statesmen and women who have served the nation very well. There are a lot of Ghanaians who can serve the nation very well to become role models to all, including even the President and the members of the Lower House.

The new president of Senegal abolished the senate branch of the law making body as a duplication and waste of money on nothing but "BIG MANISM".
In the news, K4 agreed it gonna be costly but needs to be done to "improve governance".
Today, we have too many big men who take their posts and titles too seriously than the job description that comes with it, and here we are trying to increased that number with state budget that is already using over 70% of GDP just to pay people who are not producing nothing.
Why can't k4 propose a cut by 50% of current MPs and consolidate districts, do away with free housing for judges and high government officials and MPs and allow MPs to buy their own vehicles as done in the US and save money and make sure the money saved in ten years for example, is used on training high caliber specialists in medicine and smart technology with research institutes plus high end libraries with mandate that those student graduates give us the technology that is relevant to our needs as tractors and refuse machines (machines that will literally eat bola and sucks our gutters dry from debris) to keep our environment clean.
Mr. Kufour knows we can not depend on other people's technology in other to keep our environment clean, increase agric production and improve our health if we can not master all these fields of endeavor, and the only way we can achieve all these things is to do just as India and China did by radically improving our educational sector with urgency that it demanded and not increasing BIG MEN who will just lazy around in the glory that the office brings knowingly well there's no money to pay medical doctors, nurses and teachers, and that there's a mountain of bola out there about to engulf the very beautiful office they sit in due to lack of home grown technology.
Why can't our big men slow down their appetite to be "big men" and keep acting as children who got instant gratification syndrome? The NOW moment, the microwave mentality of quicky, the MIDDLE INCOME STATUS CRAZE as if that comes with promotion without having to do nothing. "In two days three hours and two seconds, Ghana will become a middle income state". Meanwhile MPs who chair powerful committees have no inside knowledge and going ones of these committees and seriously lack the fluidity and the eloquence to powerfully make their cases on these committees when their sector equally clueless ministers appear before them. And in the face of all these failings, we're just too happy that the IMF predicted we gonna be middle income in two days.
Too sad for a country that prides its self as a home to the "educated".

The Westminster system has its own major issues that may not be fit for purpose in Ghana.
However, I believe we must evolve our own system or improve on the existing one. Suggesting another whiteman's system is not the answer. Difference people, different cultures, different system.
Our problems with the Presidential system is basically that, you can not practice what you don't understand or you can not wear what does not fit you.

My learned Mr Boko, I do hope our nation Ghana will continue to breed Brave and learned sons and daughters of your calibre. Thanks for your submission. To President John Dramani, I call on you to create a platform for learned Ghanaians to air out their views on constitutional issues. I call on you to whip up the NCCE to pick out all manners of topic covering a wide spectrum of contemporary issues. Topics bothering energy crisis, water, Electoral Crises and voting System,Education Electricity, Taxation, Governance and Political Power sharing, Human Rights, Gay, children and Gender issues, Rule of Law, Medical and Health issues, Defence and Security issues. Meanwhile Power sharing has been the main concern of Prez Kufuor suggestions that lacks all the salt and spiece to call it a good soup much more a main course meal. We need a serious national debate on this topic. I hail from the South but the more I read articles here pasted by Ghanaians of the Akan stock the more I get scared of our future. There is a deliberate orchestration to say President John Dramani has failed. This man was sworn in on adhoc basis amidst protest from the opposition and their absence. He made his maiden Presidential address to parliament less his opposition who are by the constitution a legal mandatory body of the 4th Republic. His electoral victory was subjected to 8 months of political court wrangling and sit down strikes from the major pressure groups. Nobody has been arrested or arbitrarily jailed in spite of the numerous loose talks and outright damn right insults on his self being, personality, his family, the party and his place of origin. It will be recalled that President Hilla Liman went through same ordeal just after a year and a half of rule that eventually lead to his overthrow. Can somebody tell the northerners how far they can go when it comes to gaining political power??? All the nonsensical comments and issues now being raised bothering on power sharing stops short of telling our brethren in the north that political and presidential does not belong there......The issue of winner takes it all or all inclusiveness government became a matter of relevance when all attempts to undermined JDM govt seems to be failing. I challenge the performance of JAK4 's regime to JDM first 2 years. Yet everybody is crying/complaining. What Ghanaians should know is that Prez JDM can just like the NPP did rewind the Ghanaian currency back amidst the existing economic problems with the value still being the same. Have Ghanaians thought of that.??? If the majority are simply expressing their anti- northern feeling under the guise of nonperformance by the NDC govt,I beg to differ. I have listened to NPP's daily yelling's and cries as though in their time they built homes with beds and breakfast, lunch and suffer for Ghanaian workers. The perceptions and views of the entire NPP and its former Prez on their former Vice Aliu Mahama has been amply underlined by JAK4 comments. Listen and Listen well my good Northerners folk especially Bawumia....your name means "We or they have heard" But you have heard nothing!!!. Get prepared for your share soon to come. In any case, my learned Ghanaians, what are we all confused looking for??Power sharing or reducing the constitutional powers of the President. Go back to the prophecies of gen IK Acheampong. He said he saw Ghana united and transformed successfully coping with the challenges that confront her under a unified government. What should this be ? Lets debate it at public places at the stadia, the School auditorium, student assembly houses. Good luck!!!!!
