Residents of Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital are now about ready to believe that Nana Akwasi Agyeman (Okumkom), ex-KMA Boss under the NDC has severed all ties with the former ruling party. This follows his hosting of Defence Minister, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor at his plush Kofrom residence in Kumasi, which many have interpreted to mean the concreting of his new found love for the ruling NPP.

Dr Addo Kufuor who was in Kumasi for the launching of the Police Endowment Fund was accompanied to Akwasi Agyeman’s residence by the Inspector General of Police, Nana Opoku Nsiah and the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, George Asiamah.

Nana Akwasi Agyeman donated ?5 million to the Police Endowment Fund. Most residents were skeptical about the real intentions of the former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive who rose to the position of a Deputy Minister under the Rawlings and NDC regime and declared his support for the NPP right after the NDC defeat in the 2000 elections.

His declaration that ''Rawlings was my friend but Kufuor is my brother'' was received with mixed feelings in Kumasi, considering the atrocities the former KMA boss visited on NPP supporters in the past.
