The Food and Drugs and Board (FDB) on Monday said it was illegal to import and distribute all brands of condoms into the country without first registering them with the Board.
A statement signed by Mr E.K. Agyarko, Chief Executive of FDB, said it was illegal under section 18 of the FDB Law; PNDCL 305B to import and distribute all brands of condoms for both male and female use without registering them with the Board.
The statement said all such importers are requested to license their activities with the Board and subsequently register the products or the Board would withdraw from circulation all unregistered condoms.
It said the exercise formed part of the quality assurance programme of the Board to ensure total protection for the population.
