No decision yet on Ghana Telecom job cuts

Wed, 19 Feb 2003 Source:

Ghana Telecom has seen Felix Owusu-Adjapong, Ghanaian Communications Minister, refute speculation that a decision has been made to reduce its workforce. Speculation about possible job cuts has been growing since Telenor (Norway) took over management control at the company.

He insisted that no such decision had been made and that all speculation about possible job losses was without foundation.

This follows reports in the local press that Telenor had demanded that Ghana Telecom fire all workers aged 52+ years. Telenor has agreed to finance the provision of 400k fixed liners over three years.
