Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has asked all stakeholders and individuals not to feel good and proud of their wealth or attainments if it was not obtained through hard work, but through corrupt means.
“It takes courage and character to live in honest poverty while you watch your friends get rich by fraud,” the Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area said this on Saturday, December 27, 2014 on the night of the Ghana Golf Awards at the Events Haven, Trade Fair site, La, Accra.
He said, Golf is a game of truth, integrity, transparency, frustration, excellence, satisfaction, but most importantly an enduring character; it’s a game in which one player goes onto the field all alone, plays and comes back to report that I played nine on that hole and eight on another,” he said.
Okyehene said one feels good and enjoys the game when he knows what he reported was the truth, obviously through hard work; however, “don’t feel good about your attainments and wealth when you did not acquire it through hard work, but in a corrupt way,” he bemoaned.
He charged the public to be generational thinkers and think about creating a new Ghana free from corruption to challenge all those who have taken the country for granted; because that is what generational thinkers do for their country.
“A Ghana, where our children can no longer think it is a curse to be born in Ghana, and seeks for greener pastures in foreign countries but a blessing instead,” Okyehene said.
He said greater investment should be made in our children, for they are the future of Ghana.
