Majority of Ghanaians have described their living conditions as poor and deteriorating.

This was contained in the latest survey conducted by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).

Those surveyed between June and July last year blamed their poor living conditions on the government’s bad handling of the economy.

While 63.3 percent of the total number of respondents described their living conditions as bad, 25.2 percent said their living conditions were good.

People in the Western, Central, Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions mostly reported of bad living conditions compared to the Greater Accra, Upper East and Upper West regions.

Twenty percent of the respondents sampled also considered unemployment as the most critical problem facing the country.

It was followed by education, 12.3 percent; management of the economy, 8.3 percent; electricity, 7.3 percent; and roads, 6.9 percent.

Also 71.5 percent of respondents rated government poorly in keeping prices of goods and services down.
