As Francis Kwarteng argues here, with respect to Pan-Africanism and South Africa, one cannot be activist simply because one was the first in the world, the first to arrive at a port, at a scene!
READ: "(Danqush's)...consistent failures to unite his own people behind him represent a serious critique or indictment of an individual who claimed, or so claimed by his Confederate apologists, to have dabbled in Pan-Africanism...In fact, there is none in the entire political history of Africa that compares to Nkrumah on the Pan-Africanism question.
OUR COMMENT: We agree. Red flags all around.
In fact when Danquah died in 1960, Nsawam Prison, apartheid was booming in South Africa, to be aided by rascal "Busia" and other traitors in later years.
ITEM: On the specific question of South Africa and the Danquah-Busia-Dombo connections, from:
"Reflections – Legacy of Danquah-Busia and Nkrumah Traditions – Part 2, by Kwesi Atta Sakyi
READ: "...Nkrumah’s legacy was overturned when Kofi Abrefa Busia assumed office in 1969 from the opposition stable. Busia drastically changed the focus of Ghana’s foreign policy, and with Malawi and Ivory Coast, supported Apartheid in South Africa..."(Kwesi Atta Sakyi).
We are reading Busia actually prolonging apartheid...
Let's go figure!

Nkrumah used the presidency, name and resources of Ghana to do whatever you think he did, and he could not have done them as a private citizen being chased left and right by a dictatorial president in his own country.
This type of comparison is a complete nonsense.

Where is your sense of history when the Ofori Attas and the Asantehenes used the resources of the Asante State and the Akyem Abuakwa State to support the British during so-called World war!
These kings contributed to the British to use to buy war planes to execute the war! Didn't these funds belong to the people of Akyem and Asante? In other words, were the funds the private banks of the kings?
What these clueless kings did not know was that the funds they provided contributed to Britain's military and economic power and as a result strengthened the British rule over them and their people!
You see how foolish this sound: Funding a stranger to colonize you. Other African leaders like Omar Bongo and Emperor Bokassa, to name but two, used their countries' resource (millions of dollars, mineral resources, etc) to bankroll the presidencies and campaigns of French presidents, while their people remained poor and semi-colonized!
The West has always done this for each: Marshall Plan! And the West continues to do this!
And yes, the comparison is "complete nonsense" because Danquah is irrelevant to African history! Remember he could not win a single election in his own village, Akyem Abuakwa Central, much less winning the premiership and presidency.
Who would have voted for him to become the president or prime minister? Aaron Ofori Atta, his nephew, beat him in any election he stood against Danquah.
How could Nkrumah have stolen the presidency from him when his own nephew was "stealing" parliamentary elections from him? Danquah could not win any parliamentary seat but still wanted to be president! What sense does this make to you? His own people and Ghanaians did not like him. Simple.
Even Ofori Atta assempled 140 chiefs to swear allegiance to Danquah as well as threatened to bomb the place if the people voted for the cpp, yet Danquah still lost! What does this say to you and about Danquah!
Now read the following and tell me which Ghanaian resources went into it:
"OBED ASAMOAH: “Ghana was instrumental at the United Nations and other international fora in spearheading the adoption of a number of measures against the colonial and racist presence in Africa; most notably, General Assembly Resolution 1514 (XV) of 1960 on the granting of independence to colonial territories and Resolution 1716 at the 17th Session of the General Assembly in 1962 requesting Member States separately or collectively to apply diplomatic and economic sanctions including an arms embargo against South Africa as well as the establishment of the UN Special Committee on Apartheid which was assigned responsibility for reviewing UN policies on South Africa and assessing the extent of their effectiveness. INDEED, TO AN EXTENT THAT NONE CAN GAINSAY AND TO WHICH THE UNPRECEDENTED ACCESSION OF 17 AFRICAN COUNTRIES TO INDEPENDENCE IN 1960 ALONE BEARS TESTIMONY, IT IS LARGELY TO THE CREDIT OF THE LIBERATION POLICY PURSUED BY GHANA UNDER NKRUMAH THAT THE ACCELERATION OF THE PROCESS OF DECOLONIZATION IN SOUTHERN AND EASTERN AFRICA OWED ITS SUCCESS…”

Dear Brother Boafo Yena,
Your concern is addressed in the essay, the first paragraph!
But this essay is primarily about Nkrumah's Pan-Africanist credentials and what they did for Africa in general and South Africa in particular.
Also remember that the essay is about which Ghanaian influenced South Africa's decolonization politics the most.
This is the context that I want you to evaluate the essay's fundamental arguments and assumptions.
Thanks!

What is more, I have a number of articles that address some of the problems Ghana is currently facing.
For now let me do what my soul, heart, and spirit direct me to do. Remember that no one pays me to do what I do on Ghanaweb.
You can ask Ahoofe and Sarpong to do exattly that. As for me I am by busy obeying my heart, soul, and spirit. I have a group of readers who enjoy what I am doing.
Are you saying Ghanaian leaders don't know what Ghana's problems are and how to solve them? Go and ask them!
If they don't, then makke a list of the problems and their solutions and send them to our readers to read! That is your assignment!
Please allow me to do what gladdens my heart, soul, and spirit!
