The National Hajj Board has announced a special package for prospective pilgrims who decide to pay their Hajj fare in cedis.

The board in a move to help save the weakening cedi has decided to maintain last year’s $3,450 rate for this year’s upcoming pilgrimage.

The board has reduced the fee to Ghc11,900 for those who pay in cedis.

The prospective pilgrims are expected to make these payments through UniBank.

Speaking to Starr News Chairman of Pilgrims Affairs, Alhaji Tanko Ibrahim said issues of accommodation have been sorted out.

“We have already gone into agreement with service providers to accommodate all the pilgrims and we have even made contingency arrangements totaling 5,800 so we [would] have no problems with accommodation at all”.

According to Alhaji Tanko, the first batch of pilgrims are expected to be airlifted from Accra on the 5th of September while the final take off will be 16th September.
