My African woman is all of the above and some. At 51 she still has the beauty, bust, bum, brawn, and brains. She is still not pretentious but original.
Though she is graying on the sides, she still exudes her astonishing beauty that epitomizes the art of God's handiwork on her. Her beauty still is true and touching and it is epitomized by pneumatic Cleopatra.
Yes this is my total gal, Mrs. Gersis

I know this article was looking for answers from a man's perspective, I'm gonna 'turn the tables' a bit on you and ask for your help in answering this.
Assuming I was a single brother of yours and I came home from work one day and told you that I met this woman(doesn't matter where we met)and I thought we hit it off making me feel like she was someone I would love to have a relationship with.
Working within the constraints that Angela set in her article, what kinda advice or questions would you two seemingly well-read and worldly sisters give or ask me about this woman?
In other words, being women yourselves, what qualities do you think I should be looking for in this woman that I'm already attracted to?
This is on the assumption that you are familiar with my taste in women as judged from my past relationships with women?
Is that a fair question for me ask you? ...lol
Anyway...nice reading from you again, Esi.

The problem with most Ghanaian women is they get fat and shapeless too easily. You marry a fine slim Ghanaian woman in her late 20s. After two children and in her mid 30s, she becomes fat and shapeless. Aach! They don't take care of themselves, they eat anything at all, are too lazy and the ones in the cities who have a car sit in the car all day.
Go to Ghana now and 3/4 of the women over 25 are overweight! For me, it is the shapelessness that troubles me most. Many of them develop big tummies after childbirth. This is a huge sexual turn off! Ouch!
Ghanaian women must learn to take better care of their bodies after childbirth. It looks like the black woman by nature easily grows fat. That's why the black woman must work extra hard to keep in shape.
Another thing some of us detest about Ghanaian women is their craze for long flowing hair. Why are black women so jealous of the white woman's long hair? Nature did not give the black race long hair. Why can't we just accept it and do something wonderful with what we have? Now every Ghanaian woman has long hair. Haba!
Intelligent African men want intelligent women - the ones who can speak well and argue correctly before their common friends. An intelligent, bold, assertive but not vainly proud woman is a rarity. But she wins everyday. Intelligent African men also appreciate such.
Only African men who believe in god want god fearing women. Instead of god-fearing, I prefer a woman with a strongly developed moral sense of fairness, right and wrong as human imperatives, not as something commanded by a god or some bible or some Quran. The weakest part of your article is the linkage to the bible.

Oh come on Angelina. You want to write about the sexuality of women and you base your analogy on the 'findings' of an Englishman? They havent got a clue as to what the subject is about.
Perhaps if it is about homosexuality they - white men, may be able to tell you a genuine thing or two but if you want the real 'apoh' about sex, see a Blackman. Yes a Blackman from anywhere in the world would do just fine - but from Africa, the better. And this is not a racist, chauvinist or a prejudiced view-point that has been provoked from the sentiments of reverse-racism. This is the real thing. If you open your eyes wide enough, you will see for yourself. You will see more than what any sexually dysfunctional frigid Professor who has not had his fair share of sex for the past 18 years can see or tell you in his book. What havent we seen before? Masters & Johnson and cominini and cominini. In the end all of that came to naught and rubish - pure unalloyed rubish.
Unfortunately we Blackmen dont write books but we know the subject back to front, in-between and front to back - literally speaking. It is part of our psyche, it is in our blood and it is part of our system. If you doubt what I am saying, just line up about 100 women - Black or white and ask each of them which of the two - a Blackman or a white man, they would rather prefer to have a sexual relationship with?
Needless to waste your time in that pursuit, I venture to say that with the exception of perhaps not more than 5 of these women - very likely all of them mercenary Black women, who for the want of material and financial desires to help them escape from poverty by fast-track, most of the women would off the top of their heads, eagerly jump at the obvious privilege of having a sexual relationship with a Blackman.
Needless to say, I venture to add that, any Blackman who is INITIALLY drawn to a woman by anything other than the obvious physical sexual attributes of that woman may have a few screws loose in their heads. In this regard I also venture to say that the African woman - any Black woman, is simply irresistible. Anywhere, everywhere, everyday, everyone of them you look at, they tempt you, they cajole you, they tease you, they weaken your moral standing, they dare you and they virtually insinuate to you that they have that unseen power over you (the Blackman) that gives them the strength to manipulate your whole life with their little finger.
As a woman you may also very probably well know that the sexual proclivities of the African man - the Blackman, are enormous, overwhelming and almost tyrannical. I call it the '5th Republic'.
The sexual inclinations of the average Blackman quite often exist independently (co-exist?) from his innate cognitive senses, his moral rectitude and 'respectable' social values. I guess, as He Himself is referred to as a man, this is the way God Himself planned it to be.
Every Blackman you meet is not only the nice well-spoken Pastor, politician, father, Professor, taxi-driver, electrician, Dr, administrator, plumber, accountant or lawyer. Depending on your vital statistics and sexual aura (they used to call it sex-appeal) as a woman, there may simultaneously be a raging revolt in the '5th Republic' of his alter ego whilst you are engaged in a decent conversation with him about God or society.
And please this contribution from me is precisely about what I personally perceive to be the sexual composure of the average Blackman. I dont want any wahala with any woman out there who has got any 'political' grievances with the '5th Republic'.

Personally, while I think most of the attributes Angela mentioned are necessary for the initial attraction, having a brainy woman as a partner just about takes the cake after all is said and done.
African women in my opinion are naturally beautiful. Maybe I'm biased because I'm an African. I've lived in overseas for over twenty years and any time I've come across a 'sister', I've taken a pause just to admire the natural authentic beauty our women possess but seem to take for granted.

Well Angie, I suppose it all boils down to what nature wants.
Nature, with its forces of evolution, has been obsessed with the survival of the human species, for one.
The ancient part of the brain, accordingly, has evolved systems to make sure reproduction would occur at all costs. Using that powerful reward --a few seconds of euphoria and ecstasy--called orgasm, the ancient brain of the male is turned on by physical attributes more than anything else.
Yet one could also argue that if survival is the ultimate goal, shouldn't intelligence, essential for navigating through the complexities of life, be the main driving force?
Apparently not. Nature wants the FIRST step--sex-- to take place, before the modern brain's (neocortex) analysis of issues such as financial support, raising smart kids, handling medical emergencies, the viability of the marriage, etc.
One cannot blame nature too much with its obsession with the first step. Even with the reward of orgasm, you would be hard pressed to find a quantum physicist having more time for reproduction than calculus. Nature couldn't take chances. Apparently intelligence alone couldn't guarantee the survival of humans.
But then again, we also have the much newer brain, the neocortex, the center of deep thinking, philosophy, logical reasoning and intellectual pursuits of all kinds. So, if one dreams of a 70-year blissful marriage, the neocortex would drive one to such qualities as character, compassion, trustworthiness, wisdom, etc.
So yes, systems are in place to look for beauty, big busts and butts, just as there is a department for brains.
