A final year pupil of the Ketan Methodist Junior High school in Sekondi in the Western region has been denied access to the examination hall because she carried bushy hair.
Mabel Jaspa, who had turned up Monday morning to participate in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), was asked to return home by the headmistress of the school who has been identified only as Madam Belinda.
Her mother, who spoke to Starr News’ Western regional correspondent Emmanuel Ohene Gyan said the family will resort to all necessary means to exact justice for their ward.
In a like manner, some three students of the ST. Johns Senior High school in Accra were sacked from the exams hall for carrying bushy hair during this year’s West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASCCE) in April.
The Education Ministry described the incident as unfortunate.
