Sometimes I feel like going out there, arresting all those involved in such shameful projects and shoot them one after another. Is it not shameful for someone like the former boss of VRA to come out with such startling figures. What are leaders made of? All our leaders, I mean ALL of them are involved in this power crisis which has engulfed the country. Lack of vision is killing us. The crisis didn't start with the current government although it has to be sorted out by them and without continuing to lie to the country. Some of them deserve the stakes.

If you add the cost of the barges expected from Turkey to the cost of the wasted projects he mentions, we could have initiated solar projects. Instead we waste money on thermal plants. Visionless leadership.

Our power problem is not entirely technical. It is more to do with people in the political arena not being able to make the right decisions on our energy-mix requirements. Wrong people are calling the shots.

And why did they replace you with Kirk Cofie who does not have the pedigree you have? You prepared yourself for this job. Yale engineering, Stanford MBA, Kaiser Engineers, Anglo Gold Ashanti. You are cut for the VA job. Why don't you tell Ghanaians why you were removed?

The 126megawatt diesel engines, also conceived during the 2006/7 crisis, cost the nation US$120million.
The Osagyefo Barge, which was brought into the country in 2000, was constructed at the cost of US$120million and has, as Mr. Awotwi put it, since been “cannibalised for parts and litigated in the courts of Europe, with Ghana being forced to pay the expenses incurred by the private investor we had awarded it to, and is yet to produce its first megawatt of power fifteen years later”.

MY TAKE:
THIS IS BREATHTAKING! THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY!
THIS SAD REVELATION HAS GOT MY HEAD SPINNING LIKE A RUSSIAN ROULETTE.
WHAT KING OF LEADERSHIP DO WE HAVE IN GHANA.
NO WONDER THEY'VE COLLAPSED ALL OF NKRUMAH'S STRATEGIC STATE INSTITUTIONS IN A FRENZY OF FRAUDULENT DIVESTMENTS BY GHANA'S SUCCESSIVE LEADERS.
AND GHANAIAN TAXPAYERS ARE BEING ASKED TO PAY FOR THIS CRASS INCOMPETENCE OF GHANA'S SUCCESSIVE LEADERS.
WHAT A COUNTRY! WHAT A COUNTRY!!!!@

Take a minute to ask why T3 and the 126 MW Diesel Engines are not producing any power. All they require is to be fueled. Sierra Leone has seen the usefulness of the Diesel Engines and are renting some of them from us. We could be using some to power our major Hospitals but we will rather spend money on projects where costs can be inflated so it can be looted, rather than on what will actually benefit the citizenry.
