The seeming cracks and disunity in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which few weeks ago saw some amount of calmness has deepened with the petition by Paul Afoko, the National Chairman to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service to investigate a purported ‘’secret account’’ opened by some officials of the party.

The invitation of the police to take up the matter has been described as shocking and bad for the party.

Speaking to Accra - London based Rainbow Radio 87.5fm, the leader of the opposition members of Parliament; Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu expressed deep worry at the conduct of Paul Afoko questioning the intension behind his actions in the party in recent times.

The Minority leader told Kwame Tutu the host of Rainbow Radio breakfast show that, a committee has been set-up to look into the secret accounts issue and wondered why the National Chairman will go contrary to party rules and procedure.

Answering a question why the Parliamentary group has withhold their contribution to the party, Hon Kyei Mensah explained that the members took the decision to keep their money to enable them have financial resources to contest their seats since the party did nothing to help MP’s to retain their seats.

Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu disclosed that a meeting has been held with the leadership of the party in respect of their contributions to the party.

It is on record that a member of the party pays GHC 500.00 a month as contribution to the party.

The Minority leader who doubles as the MP for Suame Constituency in the Asante Region proverbially said, soon many people who are not true members of the party will leave the ranks of the party for others to take over.
