Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold Kudjoe Fianoo has blamed his defeat in the Ghana FA Executive Committee Elections on his failure to ‘listen to the voice of God’.
Fianoo who led the Miners to their first Premier League title in almost two decades in the just ended campaign emerged one of the major causalities of Tuesday’s elections.
Fianoo alongside Ghana FA Vice President Fred Crentsil suffered respective shocking defeats at the Ex.Co polls.
Many claim Fianoo was complacent – thinking he had enough votes in the bag to retain his seat on the powerful GFA board.
But the former Administrative Manager of GHALCA says he lost because he refused to listen to God who had wanted him to withdraw from the race.
“I will just say that at times when God speaks to you, you must listen,” he said after the defeat.
“God spoke to me before this elections that I should withdraw from this elections so I can concentrate on other things.
“But I believe my resistance to this voice from God has cost me in the end.”
Fianoo lost his seat as a representative of the Premier League division on the Executive Committee.
The six elected representatives are now George Afriyie, Albert Commey, Delali Senaye, Opoku Nti, Frank Nelson and Nab Benjamin Eyison.
