If you are for the shallow but presumed benefits of privatization of the telecom industry initiated under J.J. Rawlings and Kufour administrations you should enjoy what we have in Ghana with no complaints. But if you are wise to know and understand that privatization of national assets does not mean shirking of government responsibilities then what has been happening comes as no surprise.
Now that we have an open system there will never be a day or corrective retrofitting system capable of correcting or arresting the mess we have created as government lose millions of dollars or billions of cedi in tax revenue that ought to come into the national coffers. The one thing the NPP, NDC and or our so-called educated elite class have not been able to explain away to Ghanaians is why every privatized government institution/business still has Ghanaians providing the labor and services when the very reason for their sale was incompetent management? Does it mean the NPP and NDC is asserting that there are no smart people in Ghana capable of managing industry or an admission that government always put dumb and incompetent political flunkies in charge of companies?
