Newly appointed vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie believes his past records turned the pendulum in his favour in the race for the second most powerful position on the Executive Committee of the (GFA).

Afriyie expressed his emotions on hearing his name but accepted the challenge and was confident he will live up to expectation.

According to him, “I am excited but I think I was a bit surprised. I know the work I have done over the past years was considered. I must be grateful and honoured.

“It puts a greater challenge and responsibilities on me both from the football people and the executive committee. They will expect me to work harder.” Afriyie will be replacing ex vice capo Fred Crenstil as the second in command at the GFA.
