Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis have opened discussions with Sudanese side Al Merriekh over Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Okrah, according to his representative.

The 22-year-old joined Merriekh in a two-year deal in 2014 from Ghana’s Bechem United after a short loan stint with Swedish side BK Hacken.

A member of Okrah's counsel Francis Okyere has confirmed Esperance’s interest in the player but insists the final decision will come from Merriekh.

“Okrah has arrived in Ghana after the Sudan league came to an end last month and he is expected to spend few days before his future is decided,” Okyere was quoted as saying by Gazzettaghana.

“Several clubs including Esperance have formally made enquiries about him after his performance in Sudan.

“His goals in both the local league and Caf Champions League seem to be a major factor but the final decision must come from Merriekh since he is still under contract,” he added.

Goal sources have revealed that Esperance coach José Morais is impressed with Okrah's performance, with the Tunisian outfit willing to offer Merriekh $800,000 for the midfielder’s services, to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2015-16 Caf Champions League campaign.

Esperance are currently second in the Tunisian League with 21 points, one point behind leaders CS Sfaxien after eight games.

Okrah scored nine goals and provided seven assists as Merriekh won last season's Sudan Premier League.

He was the 2013-14 Ghana Premier League top scorer and best player with 16 goals.
