Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom[L] and Dr Abu Sakara
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) must take immediate steps to assess and deal with the reasons that conspire to force its bigwigs, including former presidential candidates, from the party, Second Vice Chairperson Susan Adu-Amankwah, has said.
In an interview on Joy FM on Wednesday January 6, Adu-Amankwah said: “If you know Dr Sakara, he is a very tolerant and patient person and very deliberate in his actions.”
“I’m sure he has given much thought to this petition. The CPP must sit up, take action, and ensure that those things that have driven Dr Nduom and driving Dr Sakara out should not happen and should be stopped.”
Dr Abu Sakara Foster on Tuesday January 5 issued a statement announcing his resignation from the Nkrumahist party, which he led as presidential candidate in the 2012 elections.
He said in a press statement that: “I wish to announce to my fellow compatriots that I will contest as an independent Presidential Candidate in the 2016 general election.”
Another former flagbearer, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, left prior to the 2012 elections. Former Chairman Ladi Nylander also left the CPP to join Dr Nduom’s Progressive People’s Party.
Mrs. Adu-Amankwah believes the exodus of these political figures will affect the fortunes of the party and cautioned the CPP leadership to address the issue.
