Andre Ayew’s injury could pave way for in-form Frank Acheampong to strut his stuff in the Ghana set-up against Mozambique next week in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Anderlecht star is the only heir apparent to raid the left flank after a rich vein of form for his Belgian side in the domestic campaign and the Europa League.

Ayew since making his debut for the national team in 2007 has gone on to become an integral member, contributing immensely to victories by either scoring, assisting or sometimes defending.

The former Marseille winger has 11 goals in over 60 appearances.

In spite of that, his absence is not expected to have any negative impact on the team as there are equally good players available like Acheampong who is capable of dazzling and tormenting defenders.

Acheampong has been one of Ghana's best players abroad, playing key roles in games for Anderlecht in the domestic league and UEFA Europa league.

His performances has not gone unnoticed as UEFA’s technical team rated him among best young players in the 2016 Europa League competition plus appeared in the Europa League Team of the Week twice.

To top it all, he was named Anderlecht’s Player of the month for February.

The 22-year-old forward has scored seven (7) times in his last 10 appearances for Royal sporting club.

Acheampong has not played for the Black Stars since the 2015 AFCON final in which he missed a penalty to hand Ivory coast the trophy.
