It does seem to me that these npp lawyers are a naive lot who can easily fall into political traps.Atta Akyea was reported as saying that the South African mercenaries assignment in Ghana was pro bono and now Nana Asante Bediatuo is telling us an ananse story that though Koda was jailed and escaped via jail break,it was a mistake to jail him in the first place.
Such cook and bull stories placated as defense will in the long ran do more harm than good to the reputation of these lawyers and the npp.The truth is likely to come out one day and it would irreparably be a reputation damaging exercise with bitter repercussions.
I will advice these amateur lawyers to let matters drift away rather than exacerbating them. lawyer
Nana Asante Bediatuo is just using this exercise to seek publicity for himself at the expense of his client. This rejoinder is needless.

Keneth,
From our vantage position, we will not say this is a "needless rejoinder". The lawyer, after all, is practicing his trade in the service of his client.

We have only a minor technical disagreement with the language in a portion of lawyer's paper.
READ: "...Captain Edmund Koda was involved in the uprising of June 4, 1979,...He was a member of the pre-trial investigation team. He and other members of the team were accused of having embezzled funds and were tried twice..."
WE SAY: No sir, lawyer Nana Asante Bediatuo!
Capt E. Koda who was involved in the "uprising" and was "tried twice" could never have been "a member of the pre-trial investigation team".
Capt. Koda was the one investigated...!
Peace!

I believe that under the AFRC, there was an office like that. It was in that position that he and other colleagues of THAT TEAM were accused of embezzlement. It was in connection with that arrest that he was tried and discharged on two separate occasions.
This case shows what a bunch of illiterates we have in government today. If a Minister of Interior cannot call for the archives and read the background information before opening his wide mouth, how safe are the people of Ghana?
Of course, they distribute brochures to foreign dignitaries without even reading through them.
Bawumia is right, they do not read, not even their president!

Without the "background" you provide, what we've already said is exactly what the Lawyer wrote.
So, let's chalk that under "mis-writing"!
On the other point, Yes, maybe they do not "read".
Still, we know that it is those kinds of "Ministers" who order the destruction and sale of "archives" and artifacts of the People.
We imagine you also know that is an old story, beginning with Nkrumah's overthrow in 1966.
That said, we agree: We have a bunch of "illiterates...in government today".
In fact, our last essay on these pages/sites was directly about that, to the title. However, we use "illiterate" in a much broader context, to also cover professional competence. (Our Part II, dealing with the Ghana Police Service, will soon follow).
Let us know, if we are still missing something, please!
Greetings.

The issue is Koda vrs Ghana, and I'm very surprised that the lawyer is using this issue to make some political points for Nana Addo. This is highly non-professional.
