The deputy Interior Minister James Agalga has described as a fabrication and scaremongering a publication that Ghana’s armory is replete with Chinese weapons.

According to the Enquirer Newspaper, there is a loud murmur within the military that Ghana’s current arsenal lacks the kind of quality weaponry that are required for the combating the kind of aggression as sophisticated as terrorism.

According to the publication, a group of soldiers who have spoken to the Enquirer on condition of anonymity said “our armory mainly consists of cheap Chinese weapons”.

But speaking to host of Morning Starr Thursday, Mr. Agalga told Nii Arday Clegg that Ghana’s armory is well stocked with quality and high standard weaponry.

“The security agencies have been re-tooled to deal with the issue of terrorism. The publication in the Enquirer must be treated with contempt.

“It is alarmist in its character and we should immediately treat it as an attempt to resort to scaremongering and create unnecessary panic in the system,” Hon. Agalga stated.
