Afoko must 'bury the hatchet' and support Nana - Lawyer Odame

Lawyer Godfred Odame, lead counsel for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just nullified case between the party and suspended national Chairman, Paul Afoko, is pleading with the latter and his supporters to bury the hatchet and throw their weight behind the party's leader for a resounding victory in the December polls.

His comment follows the dismissal of a suit filed by Afoko by a Human Rights Court presided over Justice Anthony Yeboah on Monday.

"All these unnecessary bickering and infighting in the party and unnecessary distractions by the frivolous actions ought to seize", lawyer Odame noted.

He also said the ruling has marred the NDC "disunity" campaign message against the opposition party.

Speaking to Atinkaonline after Monday’s ruling, lawyer Odame said, NDC has been using the current impasse in the NPP as one of its cardinal campaign messages and that the High Court ruling which described Paul Afoko' s case as' utterly unmeritorious' has deflated the NDC campaign message which is premised on 'lack of unity in the NPP'

"The comments made by the President yesterday [Sunday] had a direct bearing on the case. It was as if they were waiting for the outcome of the case for the matter to go against the party for them to rejoice.

"The central theme of the NDC's campaign against the NPP is the lack of unity in the party, and of course alleged infighting in the party. But clearly the High Court Judge made reference to that fact that faithfulness and loyalty are key to the sustenance of a political party,” the lawyer pointed out.
