Ghana’s disabled athletes billed for next month’s Paralympics in Rio are pleading with government to give them GHC50, 000 to be able to participate in the multi sports event.

According to the President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Bishop Cornelius Adjah-Coffie, it has become very difficult raising funds to the Paralympic game.

Adjah-Coffie has been struggling for the amount for the 10-day event for a contingent of 10 in September and begs for support from government.

“It has been very tough with virtually two weeks to go for the competition, no money. We have even scaled down the budget to $160,000 and with a complement of GHC 50.000 and as quickly as possible we need to get this money”, he told Starr Sports.

Team Ghana will be represented at the event by high jumper Yusif Awudu, Alex Mumuni in cycling and Charles Narh Teye for power lifting with other seven officials.
