Ghana Seeks South African Expertise

Interior Minister, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang is leading a five-member delegation currently in South Africa to explore ways of improving the operational capacities of both the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Prisons Service. The delegation would hold discussions with officials of the Ministry for Safety and Security, as well as interact with various companies engaged in the manufacture of security equipment.

An official statement issued on Thursday said the delegation would seek the means of acquiring security equipment to boost operational capabilities of the two Services.

The delegation would also visit various correctional facilities, the Police Forensic Laboratory and the Police Dog Academy in South Africa.

The visit would lead to exchange of personnel and experiences between the Ghana Police and Prisons Services and their counterparts in South Africa. Members of the delegation include Mr Edwin Barnes, Chief Director, Ministry of the Interior, Nana Owusu-Nsiah, Inspector-General of Police and Mr William Asiedu Acting Director-General of Prisons.
