Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has shed light on the acquisition of Ghana winger Albert Adomah.
The 28-year-old was one of nine new additions made by the club during the summer transfer window, penning a four-year deal with the Claret and Blue Army.
"I was always looking to improve our attacking options," Di Matteo said.
"I felt we were short there.”
Franco-Ivorian Jonathan Kodjia is among the new strikers, who Di Matteo believes would help spur competition alongside Adomah.
"[Signing Adomah and Kodjia] gives me the opportunity to have a bit more competition within the team.
"And also vary sometimes the way we play and also gives me real options to change things around – whether during a game or for a specific match as well."
Both players are expected to be in action when Villa host Nottingham Forest in the English Championship on Sunday.
